Date of birth April,18,1993
Diagnosis; Post Meningitis during birth, as a result of that he
was suffering from severe spastic quadriplegia and speech problems.
He was admitted to the
JMF and after the physical therapy assessment, the therapist found
the following problems;
-
Modern spastic
quadriplegia, the upper limbs are better than the lower. -
Severe shortening in
bilateral hamstring muscles , calf muscles, and adductors. -
Inability to sit or
stand according to the contractures in both lower limbs and poor
balance. -
Good head control. -
Inability to use his
hands in a normal pattern according to the spasticity.
Firstly, he was admitted
to the Home Physical Therapy Program , and after months of treatment
he was referred to an orthopedic surgeon for consultation about
myotomy to bilateral Hamstring and Adductors muscles and he
was recommended to under go the operation.
As a result, the foundation admitted the child to the hospital on
20/8/2005.
After the operation and around 2 months in the case, the physical
therapy began and we obtained the following results ;
-
He can now sit with very
good balance. -
An Increase in his
standing tolerance up to half an hour by using standing frame. -
A decrease in the
plasticity of both upper limbs by using several exercises. -
He can now stand and
walk on the parallel bars by using bilateral KAFO. -
Normal muscles
length in both lower limbs are maintained after the operation.

An improvement in his
trunk control.
NOTE: The treatment is continuing in order to reach the ideal results.
